The American Dream…. Don’t we all want to live The American Dream in some way? …having a good life and the opportunity to live the life we’ve always dreamed about. When we hear this term we think positive thoughts about wellness, happiness, and freedom to say what we mean and live our lifes the way we think is right.
But we live in Norway and have all this! Are we then living the American Dream the Norwegian way? We had to look up at Wikipedia to see what was said about the term “The American Dream”. And yes, you can say that we live The American Dream, the Norwegian Way!:
The American Dream is a national ethos of the United States, a set of ideals in which freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success, and an upward social mobility for the family and children, achieved through hard work in a society with few barriers.
But something is different between our countries! Since we were kids we’ve always heard that “everything is big in America”. Oh yes! We can’t agree more!!! And now we’ve learned. We don’t by meals for four when we are out eating in the US. We by meals for two, and even that is way too much!!! But we love it! I can assure you that we love it! We love that the grocery shops “over there” has everything we need, and even more! We love that when some of us have birthday when we’re “over there”, we can stand at the local Publix for a long time, watching the cakes – and in that time we haven’t seen them all…
…So therefore we’re always looking forward to our next journey to Florida, so that we can live The American Dream – the American way!
